update!

  • Jan. 28th, 2008 at 11:27 AM

since someone said that im layzee for posting news articlez instead of blogging, im gonna write an entry

actually i dont like to blog. i prefer to talk to people about things rather than writing it down and letting everybody (including those i dont know very well) know whats going on in my life.

anyhow.. school's been squeezing the life out of me. just last week, there were four assignments to hand in/present. oh well, at least its all gonna end in like 3 weeks' time. and at the end of it all, i would probably miss chionging stop press until the wee hours of the morning with hweelips, hwanny and bernie nubhead.

anyway, my cousin got married during the weekend. he's 31 and his wife is 21. zomg so young. if i were to get married at such a young age, i'd think of all the opportunities i would miss and regret getting married. but thats if i want to get married.

i got up at like 8am yesterday and we drove all the way to choa chu kang, where my cousin's place is, for the tea ceremony. there were so many relatives and old people whom i dont know in the house, and i didnt know what to say to them, so i played with my cousin's kids. my mom says im like a child magnet cos my cousin's kids in malaysia also like to stick to me. maybe i should consider being a kindergarten teacher or something. anyway.. photo!

the boy is so cute. he kept walking around and playing on his own.. like he's in his own world. and he has a mini mohawk, which is so adorable pls. i like mohawks.

kids aside, the banquet was quite boring. like most wedding banquets, it started late and consisted of silly games like kiss-the-bride-for-more-than-three-minutes and serenade-your-bride-with-a-sappy-song. and it didnt help that i was seated at a table with my cousins (who dont talk alot) and my cousin's cousins, which means awkward and short conversations for the rest of the evening.

ok imma watch prison break now. seeya

hix again

Lohan to work in morgue

Lindsay Lohan is about to see dead people. The 21-year-old actress will soon be working at a morgue as part of her punishment for misdemeanor drunken driving, her attorney, Blair Berk, told a judge Thursday.

Her two four-hour days at the morgue are part of a court-ordered program to show drivers the real-life consequences of drinking and driving.

Bin Laden son wants to be peace activist

CAIRO, Egypt - Omar Osama bin Laden bears a striking resemblance to his notorious father — except for the dreadlocks that dangle halfway down his back. Then there's the black leather biker jacket. The 26-year-old does not renounce his father, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, but in an interview with The Associated Press, he said there is better way to defend Islam than militancy: Omar wants to be an "ambassador for peace" between Muslims and the West.

OMG!!!!!!

stuffed

  • Apr. 22nd, 2007 at 2:22 AM
oh my god, im so full. had dinner with mia at aerin's, this restaurant at raffles city shopping centre, drank suckao at max brenners at esplanade and had chocolate cakes at gloria jean's. spent quite a lot today.. but im pretty content. after a week of work and sleep deprivation, we finally got our treat. =D was a little disappointed with aerin's though. i had a plate of prawn spaghetti, a proclaimed 'must try' on the menu, which cost 18 bucks, but it wasnt that spectacular.

the highlight of the day was definitely the suckao. steamed milk is served in a small metal container, which you have to pour into this aromatherapy burner-like mug. then you scoop tiny chocolate bits (you get to choose between dark, milk or white choc), and drop into the hot milk and let them melt. it was really heavenly.. sucking the warm and smooth chocolate from the metal tube and letting it settle on your tongue. mmm.. i bet i'd have sweet dreams if i drink that before bed every night. =))

ok anyway, on to sip. i was supposed to be on the editorial team but since the magazines are about golf, cars and soccer and im not exactly well-equipped with information about them, i was placed in the marketing department. kinda blows cos i put marketing as my last choice. oh wells. = / at least my colleagues seem pretty nice. except for one guy, who is a fussy guniang. and its cool that most of them have cars.. which means we get to go somewhere else for lunch instead of the lauya 64+4 kopitiam nearby (dont ask me why it has such a stupid name).

so far, the workload is pretty ok. but the daily cycle of sleep, wake up, work, come home, eat dinner, do dishes, bathe, watch 1 hr of hk serial and sleep again, is absolutely mundane. and there isnt enough time left after sleep and work. i can hardly squeeze in an episode of greys anatomy. i wonder how working adults can have a life. how would they even have the time to date or exercise? or maybe i just have poor time management skills.

alrighty. im going off. buhbye.

woohoo!

i'm done cleaning up my room. it looks way nicer and is almost dust-free now. my lava lamp is no longer obstructed by the tower of books on my table. i finally hung up the black and white photo of the three women in bathing suits which i got for my birthday. and i stuck black and white pictures of well-known new york landmarks on my wall. so pretty =)

alright! greys anatomy now!

rotting at home

  • Apr. 9th, 2007 at 2:49 AM

havent been doing much these days, besides watching the L word, heroes (again) and greys anatomy. oh and of course, doing household chores. good thing sip's starting soon. then i wouldnt be nagged at as frequently to do the laundry. or sweep the floor.

so after finding out that the company im going to for sip, is actually a publication company for wheels asia magazine, i feel much more relieved. i hadnt heard of the company initially and its location in loyang led me to think that it was an ulu unknown company. but im glad. because its a magazine publication company! and magazine was my reason for choosing journalism as my first choice. i think i'd need to read up more on cars though, cos im a total noob when it comes to stuff like that.

and man.. only one week of holidays left! :( wanted to get out of the country during the holidays initially but too bad, no $. i wanna travel so badly but i guess i can only dream for now. i hope to go backpack travelling all over europe someday. that'd be so cool. when my sis was back in sg recently, she told me she met some old couple in phi phi, who grow olive trees in their backyard back in italy and there wasnt anyone they could hire to pluck olives for them because everyone grows olives in their backyards too, so they have way too many olives. i would be more than happy to pluck for them. olives are nice. =D

trip to ikea

  • Apr. 6th, 2007 at 11:20 PM
i wrote this on notepad on good friday but forgot to post it. so here it is..

met up with mia, who is my oldest and dearest friend (i've known her since pri 3). i consider it quite an accomplishment that we are still in contact and that we try to meet as often as we can even though she went to jc and i went to poly.

anyway, after spending some time scrounging for food in the basement of raffles shopping centre (lots of yummy snacks there btw(; ), we decided to head to ikea for some meatballs. it was crowded there, as usual. i suspect everyone goes there for the meatballs.

i love going to ikea, besides for its meatballs and daim cake. maybe its the simple yet cleverly-designed furniture/utensils. maybe its the distinct ikea smell that hits me when i'd just walked through the entrance. i just dont mind going there, even if its kinda out of the way.

while waiting for the restaurant to be less packed, mia and i went through all the departments in the showroom, choosing kitchen cabinets and sofa sets for our future homes. we came across this showroom, just 30 square metres in size, (as big as a 1-room flat i think) which has a bed, a work area, a wardrobe, a dining table for 2, a tv cabinet, a small kitchen area and a shower and toilet bowl in the bathroom. and it didnt even look cramped. i wouldnt mind staying in a place that small. at least its cosy and easy to maintain.

i bought four red circular placemats so that the new wooden dining table at home would look more interesting. my mom complained that my ensemble of pebbles in a glass bowl made the food on the table look unappetising. seriously. its supposed to make the area look more artsy and designy.

some sweet dream

  • Mar. 25th, 2007 at 2:22 AM
i dreamt of milo ventimiglia (peter petrelli) last night. i was wearing the pink tube dress i wore at the mediabiz awards and he was wearing a black suit. we were walking hand in hand to some hollywood party with the paparazzi following us. in the ballroom, we hugged tightly as we slowdanced, then, i slowly turned to look at him and we kissed. so slow and sensual.. like it was straight out of a movie (: heehee. think i'd watched too many romance movies.

oh and i found this while looking for some photos of him.

interview from thewb.com:

People would be surprised to find out that I am really:
Shy. I am definitely tough on the outside and soft on the inside. It takes me a long time to open up to new people.
(shy sensitive guys ftw!)

A typical Saturday night for me consists of:
Grocery shopping. I'm the oddball who you can find at Ralphs at 2 in the morning in the produce department. I'm a home-body. I'd rather be in the kitchen cooking then hanging out in a bar.
(he likes grocery shopping! and he can cook! :D :D)

I'm completely obsessed with:
Snowboarding, skateboarding and muscle cars. I snowboard every chance I get and I can't even tell you how many skateboards I own. I'm also a big classic car guy. I've got a '67 Chevelle Super Sport right now. Her name is Evelyn.
( :O weeeee!!)

ok i think i should stop here. im embarrassing myself.

i heart heroes

  • Mar. 22nd, 2007 at 6:34 PM
i just re-watched episode 18 of heroes together with my sister, who is back in sg for a short while to apply for a thai work visa. and now shes laughing at the ridiculously silly outcome she had thought of for peter petrelli. i wish the series would return sooner. all this waiting is driving me insane. im not even in the mood for greys anatomy!

i shall create lists!

characters who should stay on the show:
1) peter petrelli (i dont know why but im very attracted to his crooked mouth)
2) hiro nakamura (so incredibly funny and adorable)
3) claude (cos hes also very funny)
4) nathan petrelli (man i love nathan+hiro scenes)
5) claire bennet (cos shes cool)
6) sylar (to keep the suspense going)
7) matt parkman (cos hes mr. nice family guy)
8) mr. bennet (ditto)
9) isaac mendez (cos hes kinda hot)

characters who dont have to be on the show:
1) hana gitelman the wireless girl (cos her skill is pretty useless)
2) niki/jessica sanders (she doesnt contribute to the main plot)
3) mr. muggles
4) lyle bennet (hes useless as well)
5) simone deveaux (frigging irritating. hope she doesnt return)

oh yea, im still very noobish with livejournal so if anyone can teach me how to change my template, it'll be very much appreciated. =)

yay new journal!

  • Mar. 4th, 2007 at 2:18 AM

ok i just created a livejournal account because blogger's killing me with its loading time. i dont know if the fault lies with me or blogger but anyway, who cares. livejournal seems pretty cool. for now. hopefully, it'll work fine for me or else i would have to switch to something else, like wordpress cos alvyn says wordpress is 1337.

i realised that choosing a basic account only gives me the choice of a few templates, so i just chose this one, because thats where greys anatomy is set in - seattle. (:

anyway i just wanna add that heroes is oh-so-cool/fabulous/exciting!! its riveting! i cant wait to finish the next 3 episodes but i cant watch them now cos my brother isnt back yet and the laptop's with him and i cant use this computer cos there isnt a dvd drive, which is sad.

im heading to bed now. blogger's still not done loading :@ screw it.
goodnight people (:
